One page, one goal, one measurable conversion

Performance marketing pays for attention. Often that attention then lands on a homepage with twelve menu items, and visitors have to search for what the ad promised. Dometrics builds landing pages with exactly one job: turning the ad click into an enquiry, a booking or a purchase. Fast, focused and fully measured from the very first visit.

How a campaign landing page differs from a website

A website explains a company. A landing page leads to a decision. The website serves job seekers, existing customers, press and prospects all at once. The landing page speaks to exactly the audience that saw a specific ad and gives them exactly one next step.

CriterionWebsite / homepageCampaign landing page

ContentBroad, many topicsOne offer, objections, proof, CTA

This separation isn’t an end in itself. It shows which campaign drives which revenue, and it allows optimization without touching the main website.

How Dometrics builds landing pages

Message match: carrying the ad forward

The landing page headline repeats the ad’s promise, literally or in substance. Someone who clicks on “Tax advice for restaurants in Vienna” sees exactly that statement, not a generic slogan. Visuals, offer and tone stay consistent. That lowers the cognitive load in the first seconds, when visitors decide whether to stay. In Google Ads, the relevance of the destination also feeds into Quality Score, which affects click prices. The guide on Google Ads costs explains how this mechanism works.

Structured along the buying decision

Every page follows the logic people use to decide: What do I get? Why here? What speaks against it? What is the next step? Dometrics arranges value proposition, proof, objection handling and call to action in exactly this order. The primary CTA repeats at sensible intervals so nobody has to scroll back up.

Load time as a conversion factor

Every second of load time costs visitors before they even see the offer. Dometrics works with a fixed performance budget and follows the thresholds Google defines for good Core Web Vitals. Pages are checked with PageSpeed Insights before go-live and afterwards against field data in Search Console:

  • Largest Contentful Paint (LCP): under 2.5 seconds, so the most important content is visible right away.
  • Interaction to Next Paint (INP): under 200 milliseconds, so clicks and inputs respond without delay.
  • Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS): under 0.1, so nothing jumps while visitors read or type.
  • Images: WebP or AVIF, responsive sizes, lazy loading below the fold.
  • JavaScript: only where interaction requires it. Static HTML by default.

Forms people actually finish

The form is where most leads get lost. Dometrics cuts required fields down to what sales genuinely needs, uses multi-step flows for more complex enquiries and validates input inline. Spam protection relies on honeypot fields and a server-side check in the background instead of captchas that put off real prospects. In a store context, sign-ups can be passed straight to Klaviyo so the contact enters the right automation without detours.

Technology: the right stack, no extra software

For standalone campaign pages, Dometrics prefers Astro. The framework ships static HTML and therefore loads fast. For stores, landing pages are built as Shopify templates so products, cart and checkout work without friction. Where a CMS is already in place, Dometrics builds inside it. A separate landing page builder with its own subscription and script overhead isn’t needed. Design is created in Figma and implemented as components, so further variants take little effort.

Tracking from the first visit

Without clean measurement, every statement about a landing page remains an assumption. That is why tracking isn’t bolted on afterwards but built together with the page. The foundation is the server-side setup from Tracking & Data Analytics: events travel through a first-party subdomain to a server-side Google Tag Manager container and from there to GA4, Google Ads and the Meta Conversions API. Google Consent Mode makes sure visitor consent is respected at every step.

Measurement covers not only the final conversion but the path to it: scroll depth, CTA clicks, form starts, drop-off per field and successful submission. That reveals whether a page fails on the offer, on its length or on a single form field. The guide on server-side tracking explains why server-side measurement is decisive here.

Good to know: Every conversion is checked three times before go-live: in Tag Manager’s preview mode, in GA4’s DebugView and in the respective ad platform. Budget only goes to the page once all three match.

A/B testing with statistical discipline

Testing doesn’t mean pitting two button colors against each other. Dometrics prioritizes hypotheses by expected impact and effort: offer and headline before layout, layout before details. Every test has a target metric, a sample size calculated upfront and a minimum runtime across full weekly cycles. The guide on conversion rate optimization covers the methodology behind it.

Running the tests requires no additional testing software. Depending on the setup, Dometrics uses one of two routes:

  • In our own stack: on Astro pages, variants are assigned and served server-side. Visitors see their variant immediately without flicker, and the assignment is passed to GA4 as a parameter.
  • Via the ad platform: both variants live under their own URLs. Google Ads experiments split a campaign's traffic, Meta A/B tests separate audiences cleanly. Analysis happens directly in the platform and in GA4.
  • Documentation: results, runtime and decision are recorded in Looker Studio so later tests build on established knowledge.

Important: With little traffic, small tests don’t produce reliable results. In that case Dometrics tests bigger differences, such as a different offer or page structure. Drop-off points from form tracking and, where wanted, heatmaps from the free Microsoft Clarity help sharpen hypotheses.

Common causes of weak destination pages

Many landing pages don’t fail on design but on fundamentals. These patterns show up regularly in audits:

  • One page for every campaign: search ads, social ads and newsletters all lead to the same destination, even though intent and prior knowledge differ completely.
  • Tracking only on the thank-you page: counting a page view as a conversion double-counts reloads and carries no value. Drop-off points stay invisible.
  • Heavy pages: several megabytes of JavaScript for a page with one form. On mobile connections visitors leave before the content appears.
  • Tests without a hypothesis: variants are created by taste and stopped after a few days. The result can’t be told apart from chance.
  • No reconciliation with sales: the page produces leads, but nobody checks which of them turn into revenue. Optimization then targets volume rather than quality.

How it fits into the Growth Engine

Landing pages are the link between reach and revenue. They receive their traffic from Paid Advertising and carry forward the message of the Ad Creatives. Leads and buyers move on into Email Marketing & Automation, where follow-up flows accompany the close. In a store context they plug directly into the eCommerce strategy.

Within the Growth Engine, the landing page owns the conversion module: it helps determine how much of every euro invested comes back as a result. A better conversion rate lowers the CPA of every channel that leads to this page, without additional budget.

Remember: More budget only scales a weak page at a higher cost. Every additional euro pays off only once ad, landing page and measurement fit together. The pricing page outlines the framework for build and ongoing support.

01 Scope

What's included

Message match with the ad

Headline, offer and visuals pick up what the ad promised. Whoever clicks finds what was announced, immediately.

Load time as a conversion factor

Static HTML, optimized images and minimal JavaScript: green Core Web Vitals, even on mobile connections.

Forms people actually finish

Fewer required fields, multi-step flows and clear error messages. Every field has to justify its place.

Tracking from the first visit

Scroll depth, form interaction, drop-off points and conversions flow server-side via Google Tag Manager into GA4, Google Ads and Meta.

Tests with a clear method

Variants in our own stack or via Google Ads experiments and Meta A/B tests, each with a hypothesis, a target metric and a documented result.

Variants per audience

Dedicated pages or dynamic content per campaign, keyword cluster or industry, without duplicated code or sprawl.

02 Audience

Who this is for

Companies running paid campaigns

Google Ads or Meta Ads currently send traffic to the homepage or a generic service page. A matching destination page is often the most direct lever on CPA here.

B2B and service firms focused on leads

Enquiries, callbacks or booked meetings are the goal. A page with clear qualification delivers better-fitting leads, not just more leads.

Stores with launches and promotions

New products, bundles or seasonal campaigns need a focused page rather than a crowded category page.

Teams stuck with a heavy CMS

Every new page takes weeks or loads slowly. A lean landing page stack decouples campaigns from the main website.

Not a fit when no traffic is planned

A landing page without a campaign, newsletter or organic inflow stays unvisited. In that case Dometrics recommends settling channel and budget first.

03 Process

How the engagement works

  1. Week 1

    Analysis & goal definition

Campaign, audience, offer and the one conversion everything works towards. Existing data from Google Ads, Meta and GA4 reveals where visitors drop off today.

  2. Weeks 1 to 2

    Structure & copy

A wireframe that follows the buying decision, copy in brand voice, objections and proof in the right place. One review round instead of endless loops.

  3. Weeks 2 to 3

    Design & development

Built on the right stack, mobile first, within a performance budget. Forms, Consent Mode and server-side tracking are built in from the start.

  4. Weeks 3 to 4

    QA & go-live

Testing across devices and browsers, checking every event in Tag Manager's preview mode, reconciling conversions between page, GA4 and ad platform.

  5. ongoing

    Test & optimize

Tests by priority, analysis in Looker Studio and iteration based on real conversion data. The better variant becomes the new baseline.

06 FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a landing page?

A landing page is the destination visitors reach after clicking an ad, a newsletter or a link. In performance marketing it has exactly one goal, such as an enquiry, a purchase or a sign-up. Navigation and distractions are deliberately reduced so the decision stays in focus.

Why not just link to the homepage?

The homepage has to serve many audiences at once and offers plenty of exits. A campaign landing page picks up what the ad promised. In Google Ads this also improves the landing page experience component of Quality Score, which tends to lower click prices.

Which technology does Dometrics build landing pages on?

That depends on what is already in place. For standalone campaign pages Dometrics prefers Astro, which ships static HTML and loads fast. For stores, landing pages are built directly in Shopify so cart and checkout work without friction. Building inside an existing CMS is also possible.

How is a landing page's success measured?

What matters is the conversion rate on the defined target action and the resulting CPA or ROAS. Micro-conversions such as scroll depth, form starts and drop-off points complete the picture. All events flow server-side via Google Tag Manager into GA4 and the ad platforms and can be analyzed per campaign in Looker Studio.

How does Dometrics run A/B tests?

Without additional testing software. Variants are either served server-side in our own Astro stack or set up as separate URLs and split via Google Ads experiments or A/B tests in Meta. A test runs until the sample size calculated upfront is reached, and at least one to two full weekly cycles.

Does a landing page matter for SEO?

Campaign landing pages are built primarily for paid traffic and are often set to noindex so they don't compete with organic pages. Organic visibility comes from dedicated, in-depth pages built as part of SEO. The two approaches complement each other.

Can an in-house team maintain the pages later?

Yes. Depending on the stack, copy, images and variants can be changed via content files, Shopify sections or the CMS. Dometrics documents structure and tracking so that edits don't break measurement.

Does Dometrics build landing pages without managing the campaigns?

In principle yes, but it only makes sense with a clear traffic source. A landing page only works once ad, page and measurement fit together. If no lever is visible, Dometrics says so openly.
