AI Chatbot · Hospitality & Tourism

An AI chatbot for hotels that never clocks off.
And drives direct bookings.

Dometrics builds AI assistants for hotels and tourism businesses: they answer guest questions in any language from the property's own knowledge, capture quote and group requests in a structured way and lead guests to book on the hotel's own website instead of a platform.

01 The starting point

Where hotels lose bookings today.

The demand is there. It gets lost in the moments when a guest has a question and nobody answers, or when the answer comes via a platform.

The front desk answers the same questions

Parking, dogs, spa hours, directions, cancellation terms: a large share of inquiries repeats every day, often in several languages, in the middle of check-in.

Questions in the evening, booking on the platform

Guests plan in the evening and at weekends. If a question on the website goes unanswered, the guest books wherever an answer comes instantly, and that costs commission.

Quote requests take days

Weddings, seminars, groups: by the time every detail has been clarified by email, several rounds of replies have passed. Faster properties win the business.

Staff is scarce

Good front desk staff are hard to find. Every hour they spend on standard questions is an hour missing for the guest in front of them.

02 The solution

The property's knowledge. In every language, at any time.

The assistant knows the property as well as the front desk, but it only states what is verified. Prices and availability come from the booking engine, not from the language model.

  1. 01 · Property knowledge

    Everything about the hotel

Rooms, amenities, spa, dining, directions, pets, cancellation rules and offers, approved by the property.

  2. 02 · Guest

    Questions in any language

The guest asks on the website in their own language, and the assistant replies in the same language from the same knowledge base.

  3. 03 · Booking

    Lead to direct booking

When a guest shows booking intent, the assistant forwards them to the property's booking engine with the relevant details.

  4. 04 · Request

    Capture special requests

Groups, celebrations, seminars: key details are captured in a structured way and handed to the team in one package.

  5. 05 · Reporting

    Measure the impact

Answered questions, handovers, booking referrals and open topics in the dashboard.

03 Compared

Without an assistant versus with an assistant.

Without an assistant versus with an assistant.
Criterion Website without assistant Website with AI assistant
Availability During front desk hours, by email with a delay Instant answers, including nights and weekends
Languages As many as the team speaks Answers in the guest's language
Standard questions Tie up front desk time Answered automatically
Group requests Several email rounds to collect the details Details captured in full, sent straight to the team
Booking path Guest searches alone or switches to a platform Targeted referral to the property's own booking engine
04 In detail

What an AI assistant can do in a hotel and where its limits are.

Hotels rarely lose bookings on price. They lose them on speed. A guest wondering in the evening whether the dog can come along or whether the spa is open on arrival day wants the answer now. If it does not come, there is a platform that answers instantly and charges a commission for it. An AI assistant on the hotel’s own website closes exactly this gap.

The numbers behind the assistant

Austrian tourism reached a record in 2025 with around 157 million overnight stays [1]. Demand is not the issue. What matters is the channel through which it reaches the property. Every booking made directly on the hotel’s own website instead of through a platform saves the commission and brings guest data into the hotel’s own system. An assistant that answers questions instantly and then leads to the property’s own booking engine works directly on this ratio.

What the assistant handles

  • Standard questions: directions, parking, pets, check-in times, amenities, spa and dining, in the guest's language.
  • Advice before booking: Which room suits two adults with a toddler? Which offer applies in March? Answers from the approved knowledge base.
  • Referral to booking: straight into the property's booking engine with travel dates and number of guests.
  • Groups and celebrations: date, number of guests, occasion, room requirements and wishes are captured in full and handed to the team.

Important: The assistant never quotes prices or availability from memory. They come from the booking engine. A language model that invents rates would be a liability risk and a breach of the guest’s trust.

The limits

The assistant does not replace hospitality. It does not handle complaints on its own, negotiate special rates or make goodwill decisions. In these cases it hands over to the front desk with a summary of the conversation, so nobody has to ask twice. Since 2 August 2026, the AI Act also requires a clear notice that the guest is talking to an AI [2]. That is no disadvantage: guests accept an assistant as long as it is helpful and honest.

Key takeaway: The assistant wins bookings through availability, not sales pressure. A guest who gets a good answer at 10 pm books where that answer came from.

07 FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can the AI assistant book rooms directly?

The assistant takes the guest into the property's existing booking engine with the relevant details such as travel dates and number of guests. The booking itself, price and availability come from the booking engine. Binding information stays where it is maintained, and the language model never invents prices.

Which languages does the assistant answer in?

Modern language models handle every language relevant to tourism in the DACH region, including German, English, Italian, Dutch, French and Czech. The assistant replies in the language the guest writes in, drawing on the same approved knowledge.

What happens if the assistant cannot answer a question?

It says so openly and offers a handover: the guest leaves their request and contact details, and the front desk receives a summary of the conversation. Unanswered questions are collected and feed into the next knowledge update.

Is a hotel chatbot GDPR-compliant?

Yes, if it is built correctly: processing in the EU, a data processing agreement, no use of conversations to train third-party models, short retention periods and disclosure in the privacy policy. Personal data is only requested when an inquiry requires it.

Is an AI assistant worthwhile for smaller properties too?

The assistant has the strongest effect where the front desk is not staffed around the clock. What matters is the ratio of inquiry volume, room value and commission costs. Dometrics calculates in advance, using the property's own figures, whether the assistant pays for itself.

Does the assistant also work for tourism boards and destinations?

Yes. Instead of a single property, the assistant then knows the region: attractions, events, directions, guest cards and partner businesses. When a guest shows booking intent, it refers them to the partner businesses.

A conversation starts with a question.

No sales pitch, no commitment. Dometrics responds with an honest assessment and says so when there is no leverage to be found.
